Scottish Daily Mail holds steady in ABCs

Chris Williams 10 year reign at the Scottish Daily Mail has delivered favourable results for DMG Media north of the Border again this month as it holds its circulation while all around (except an increasingly impressive i) lose theirs.

It suffered barely a 0.6% drop under his stewardship while the Scottish Sun (-14.1%), Daily Record (-9.7%) and Scottish Daily Express (-11.6%) are among those to fall.

Williams joined the Scottish Daily Mail in December 2003 when he was poached from his role as Editor of the Daily Express in London, building a formidable editorial team and being crowned Scottish Newspaper of the Year in 2011.

The newspaper’s circulation stands at 102,927.

The Scottish Sun – under Andy Harries who served as deputy editor to Williams at the Scottish Daily Mail before joining the red top in September 2010 having – remains the market leader in Scotland with 263,512.

The Herald and The Scotsman titles have both opted out of the ABCs. The Scottish figures can be read at this link via

The UK national circulation figures are also published today.
