With the Independence Referendum just around the corner I suppose we can expect some good old reshuffling of the political hack packs.
You’d hope [expect?] that news organisations would also be looking to beef up their teams to cover not just the debate, but the aftermath of the most important constitutional question we may ever be alive to see – regardless of how it swings.
Which may make this job advert from ITV News Border [via a LinkedIn alert] very alluring.
ITV News Border is expanding its operation and we’re looking for dynamic and talented journalists to join our BAFTA-award winning programme ‘Lookaround’.
Our 6pm flagship programme commands the highest audience share of any regional news programme in the UK and over the years has seen some of the country’s biggest news stories such as the Lockerbie bomb and the Derek Bird shootings.
We are looking for a Political Editor to become the recognisable and popular face of political coverage for ITV Border in Scotland. This is a senior position and it will be based in the Scottish Parliament building in Holyrood. You will already have a full understanding of how the Parliament works together with excellent contacts in Scotland. You will have a proven track record in producing creative, original journalism and consistently delivering reports to the highest possible production values. You will become the driving force for our coverage of Scottish politics and how it impacts on people’s lives and it goes without saying that you will also be the driving force in our coverage of the independence referendum.
We are a multi-platform operation so you will be enthusiastic about developing an online presence through our web sites and via social media interaction.
We will expect you to be willing and enthusiastic about developing your camera and editing skills to compliment the newsgathering and story-telling skills you already possess.
If you have a passion for Scottish politics and television news with the skills and experience to help us continue to offer award winning news to our audience, we’d love to hear from you.
