JUST days ago I was blogging about how Scottish journalism would miss Joe Quinn when he leave his post at the Press Association.
Now I hear another giant of the political reporting world is departing his berth.
Dave King, one of Scotland's best kent and respected political editors, is said to have agreed a package to leave the Daily Record.
Like Joe, he'll leave a huge gap.
Few have his contacts, nous or straight talking, frank honesty.
The first day I met him, I was wrestling with some words and he lent over my shoulder and said, 'Hey son, what are you trying tae dae? Don't be so bloody stupid – keep it simple. That's all they want." – and walked off.
It was advice that still serves me well today and, whatever his next adventure, I wish him all the best ahead.
There is a suggestion of a shuffling of the remaining political team, as opposed to any replacement being appointed, with other other movement still to be announced.
