Out of the frying pan and into the fire and rescue service

NOT even six months since Scotland's favourite PR double-act reunited and they've split again already.

But in a good way.

Ruth 'The Truth' Macleod is leaving her desk at City of Edinburgh Council lured into a new job by those flashing blue lights again.

Yes, having already served and punished with Lothian and Borders Police in the past, she's now off to join Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service as their Communications Manager.

As it stands, the post will last a year, maternity cover or such likes.

Which should give her plenty of time surely to go for the hat-trick and try for the full set in applying for a job with the ambulance service too.

In her own words she admits: "Some girls just can't get enough blue light action!"

Her side-kick Noel Miller, meanwhile, is also on the move.

Well, almost.

He's drop-kicked his temporary berth at the council's education desk.

But that's because he's bagged a full-time position with another department just a doughnut's chucking distance away.

Edinburgh surely now is the city that never sleeps.
