So what does a recently redundant hack do when they find that they've suddenly got much more time on their hands than they know what to do with?
Job hunting, loafing, trips to the pub.
And maybe a bit of blogging too?
Six Apart, part of the group that hosts the platform for this Blog, Typepad, are offering recently sacked hacks a chance of a free blog account, training and marketing, to help them get back in the saddle online.
They say: "We're a company founded by bloggers, and we've supported online journalism from the beginning. During a time when so many great journalists are worrried about losing their jobs, we want to do what we can to help. So we've put together a program to put you on your first steps towards independence."
Although slightly bent towards the American market, it appears to be open to all, and could save would be bloggers a decent bit of cash.
If nothing else, it could be somewhere to put the CV, clippings and do a bit of writing until the dust settles on the media jobs market.
