A SCOTS woman has been found shot dead through the head in an Irish
holiday park.
The woman, a 33 year-old who was not being named, was found at 2.30am
yesterday.
Gardai officers called to the scene said the death at first looked to
be a simple suicide,
But senior sources told the Mirror last night that further tests are
being carried out by cops who suspect possible foul play after finding
a gun.
The weapon was discovered lying next to the woman at a caravan park in
Crumlin, south Dublin.
The woman, who lived alone and has no known relatives in Ireland, is
believed to have died instantly from a single shot.
A source said: “It had all the appearances of a suicide but, as yet,
Gardai are not ruling out suspicious elements.
“The victim was found lying at the door of her mobile home, off the
Windmill Road.
“The body has been taken away for a preliminary post-mortem and until
those results are available detectives cannot speculate further.”
Gardai sealed off the camp-site, set among the suburban semi-detached
houses on Windmill Road, while forensic experts examined the scene.
Gardai arrived to find the body of the woman lying just outside her
mobile home after receiving a 999 call around 2am.
It is believed there were no signs of a break-in at the woman’s caravan.
She was known to be friendly with an Irish motorbike gang.
One local said: “I didn’t hear anything as I was fast asleep. It was a
shock to wake up and find all of this had went on during the night.
“I saw the woman walking about sometimes.
“But I never spoke to her. It is tragic that she was killed at such a
young age.”
A Gardai spokesman said: “We are not releasing the name of the woman
until all next of kin can be located and informed.”
