A GREEN Goddess on its way to an 999 call yesterday smashed into the
side of a taxi office, the Daily Mirror can reveal.
The crew were heading to a house fire in Dumfries when they lost
control on a tight corner.
And taxi firm staff were stunned to find that they were finding their
way with an out-of-date map.
As the squaddies fought frantically to free the Goddess from the window
frame, one shouted: “We’re sorry, but we’ve got to go – there’s a
fire.”
Soldiers returned later to give controller Eric Halliday a damages
claim form.
Eric, 50, said: “The map they were using didn’t even have the street on
it.
“It was out of date. It was farcical really.”
