THE SCOTTISH Socialist Party is set to become Scotland’s fourth
political force.
Party leader Tommy Sheridan hailed a poll which last night put the
Socialists neck and neck with the Tories at 10 per cent in second vote
intentions.
That’s the highest rating the party has have ever achieved.
Mr Sheridan claimed that level of support could deliver his party eight
MSPs.
He said: “This increased support in the opinion polls confirms our own
experience on the streets and in the workplaces.
“The SSP is fast becoming the political home of those who oppose war,
support disarmament, believe in trade union rights and public ownership
and desire an all-out war on poverty and inequality, not Iraq.”
Yesterday Mr Sheridan found a surprise backer in SNP supporter Sir Sean
Connery.
He said: “That’s the spirit one wants to see. They’re all sh*t scared
of anybody that’s going to create any waves.”
