Parents in killer plea

The Mirror, 17/05/2002, p18

THE parents of murdered Amy Anderson will make an emotional appeal for
help in tracking down their daughter’s killer today.
Ian and June Anderson will break their silence over the horrific death
during a press conference at Strathclyde Police HQ in Glasgow.
Amy’s torso was found on the banks of the River Leven in Dumbartonshire
on May 9.
This will be the family’s first chance to respond to claims their
19-year-old daughter, originally from Dumfries, had fallen into the
world of drug addiction and prostitution and may have been pregnant.
Meanwhile, a second separate investigation into the death of an
ex-soldier whose torso was found dumped in a river just a few miles
from Amy, has revealed he may have been murdered in revenge for an
earlier killing.
Police are probing links between the deaths of drug addict Daniel
Hutcheson, whose torso was found in the River Clyde, and John Mitchell,
34, whose body was found in Muirkirk, Ayrshire, last September.
Both men were drug addicts who lived in Govan, Glasgow.
A police insider said: “One theory we are looking at is that Hutcheson
was involved in Mitchell’s death and that he was murdered in revenge by
the dead man’s friends.”
