SCOTS rockers Travis plan to steal the MTV spotlight tonight – by
playing Flower of Scotland in front of 8,000 screaming fans.
It was revealed last night that Fran Healy and co hope to grab the
biggest cheer of the night when they play at the awards ceremony in
Leith.
Their spectacular version of the National Anthem will be beamed onto
the massive screen at the free gig in Princes Street Gardens.
One insider said: “Fran and the boys are delighted to be part of the
biggest night in Scotland’s musical history.
“But they are determined to steal the limelight – and what better way
to do it that with their own national anthem.”
More than 100 people had queued through the night on Princes Street for
the final batch of 300 tickets for MTV in the Gardens concert.
Around 8,000 free places were given away last week for the gig starring
Jane’s Addiction, The Chemical Brothers and quirky US outfit The
Flaming Lips.
Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell – who will also present an
award tonight – told the Scottish Daily Mirror: “We have played in
Edinburgh before.
“I remember it as one of the most beautiful places on the Earth.”
* DRIVERS were told to expect diversions around the Gardens from 2pm.
