THREE separate murder inquiries were under- way across Scotland last
night as the May bank holiday weekend was turned into a bloodbath.
Detectives were probing a brutal killing in West Lothian, a lethal
stabbing in Glasgow and the suspicious death of a woman in Aberdeen.
In Polbeth, West Lothian, neighbours discovered Mark Craig lying in a
pool of blood early on Saturday morning.
The 23-year-old had been savagely beaten to death with a blunt
Police are still looking for a motive for the attack and last night
officers were searching bins and surrounding areas for the murder
Det Insp Craig Dobbie said: “This young man died a horrible and violent
death and I’d ask any for any witnesses to come forward.”
Police in Glasgow also launched a murder probe after a man was knifed
to death in a street fight.
The 43-year-old victim suffered serious head injuries during the
incident in Penilee, Glasgow, on Sunday night and later died in
Meanwhile police in Aberdeen believe a middle aged woman found dead in
her ground floor flat may have been murdered.
A Grampian Police spokesman said: “A member of public alerted police
after finding the body. We are in the very early stages of
investigation but are treating the death as suspicious.”
