THE 10th anniversary party of T in the Park is a virtual sell-out
already – setting a new record for Scotland’s biggest music festival.
Sunday’s event is already sold-out, despite the capacity being extended
to a mind boggling 55,000 people a day – up 5,000 on last year.
And organisers predict Saturday’s gathering could sell out within days,
with only a handful of tickets still for sale.
Geoff Ellis, of DF Concerts, told the Daily Mirror last night: “We
always thought tickets for T in the Park’s tenth birthday would sell
“But with the biggest capacity in the event’s history, we weren’t
taking this for granted.
“So the news that Sunday has sold out in record time and we’re very
close to selling out the entire weekend is fantastic.”
Part of the reason for the success is organisers started selling
tickets before Christmas for the first time ever.
The legendary REM are Saturday night headliners, with the UK’s own
homegrown multi-award winning giants Coldplay closing on Sunday night.
With the addition of the new X-Tent featuring The Rapture, Athlete and
Har Mar Superstar, this year’s line-up is shaping up to be one of the
strongest to date.
A host of stars are also expected to head along to watch, including
George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s Lager said earlier:
“Every year the event gets bigger and better.”
