A TEENAGE newlywed and a dad-of-three died in separate swimming
pool tragedies on the Greek islands.
Arron Wright, 19, drowned on Corfu just five days after marrying
girlfriend Lisa, 31.
He was swimming with her daughter Keanan, nine, when he developed cramp.
But he disappeared under the water after bending down to rub his leg.
When he reappeared he gasped for breath then sank again. A friend
pulled him to the side and Lisa joined a frantic bid to revive him
until paramedics came.
But the factory worker, of Pinxton, near Alfreton, Derbyshire, was
later pronounced dead.
Distraught Lisa, calling Arron “a fantastic person”, said: “We had the
rest of our lives ahead of us. Then on the Thursday this happened.” A
postmortem revealed he drowned.
Colin Hoggan, 39, of Camelon, Falkirk, drowned in Faliraki, Rhodes,
after going for a late-night dip to cool off.
The married dad of three children from two relationships was found by a
pal worried when he did not return to their hotel.
Mum Catherine Kinghorn, 63, of Stenhousemuir, said: “We’re in a state
of shock. It’s difficult to accept I’ve lost my only son.”
