A PRETTY girl has been scarred for life by a mugger who slashed her
across the face.
Karin Veitch, 17, needed 16 stitches to the wound on her right cheek
after the thug escaped with a three-figure sum of cash.
Police hunting the brute think he may be a Rangers fan.
Karin was able to give police a good description of her attacker, right
down to the Ibrox- style colours on his scarf.
The devastated teenager wept as she told friends how he grabbed her
from behind as she walked in Tranent, East Lothian.
She screamed as he dragged the weapon – possibly a knife – across her
cheek then grabbed her bag and fled.
Karin, who was treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, was last night
being comforted by relatives.
“This was a terrifying incident for the young woman who has suffered a
serious injury to her face,” said a police spokesman.
“Neither the bag or purse have been recovered and anyone who finds them
should contact the police.”
Police say they are determined to nail the attacker and appealed for
help from the public.
The fiend was described as white, 6ft to 6ft 2ins tall, 18 or 19 years
old, of skinny build, with deep set eyes and bushy eyebrows.
He was wearing dark trousers, a white tracksuit top, white trainers, a
red, blue and white scarf covering the lower half of his face and a
white baseball cap.
