HeadLine: Parly opponent wants top job

NEW contender for the job of First Minister, Malcolm Chisholm, actually
voted against the creation of the Scottish Parliament in 1979.
Chisholm helped to consign devolution it to the political equivalent of
Oor Wullie’s wee metal bucket.
That doesn’t mean the Paw Broon look-a-like isn’t allowed to change his
mind.
But his original stance may work against him if those more passionately
for home rule question his commitment.
When quizzed, the out-of-nowhere man said: There such a thing as the
zeal of the convert.” Chisholm replaced MP Ron Brown in Leith in 1992.
The former schoolmaster did show some steel however, when his salary
was arrested for poll tax non-payment.
