MILLIONAIRE Hearts boss Chris Robinson was attacked by a fan before his
side’s CIS Cup humiliation at the hands of minnows Ross County.
Supporters – frustrated by their side’s shocking performances this
season – hurled abuse at the Tynecastle chief executive as he ate with
club officials at a Highland hotel an hour before Tuesday night’s game.
One raging fan even threw a chair at the beleaguered businessman before
being bundled out the door.
The National Hotel in Dingwall’s High Street was crammed with Jambos
supporters ahead of the tie with Ross County when Robinson, club
chairman Douglas Smith and financial chief Stewart Fraser arrived for a
Hotel barmaid Lorraine Russell, 26, said: “A few comments were thrown
in his direction and it was suggested they move away from the window to
stop any aggravation.
“They refused to move and were very arrogant.
“One fan eventually came up to him and said something like ‘f*** you
fat b******, get out’.
“A guy tipped their table over smashing a few glasses and threw a chair
at Robinson.”
Hearts, seventh in the league, lost the match 5-4 on penalties, adding
to Robinson’s misery.
Hearts spokesman Douglas Dalgleish said last night: “Mr Robinson is
very clear that he will remain at Hearts football club.”
Mr Dalgleish also insisted the club knew the identity of the fan
involved and would be taking swift action.
