RANGERS chiefs were branded scrooges by Radio One DJs last night after
refusing to donate a signed football shirt for Comic Relief.
Every Scottish Premier side, except the Ibrox club, handed over a top
to showbiz duo Comedy Dave and Sports reporter Mark ‘Chappers’ Chapman.
Dundee United even shamed the Glasgow club, when their players also had
an impromptu whip-round, raising £750 for the charity.
The radio pair were on a whirlwind tour of the 12 top teams in Scotland
but were left stunned when mega-bucks Gers told them they could not
spare a jersey.
A Radio One source said: “It seems weird that a club like Rangers
couldn’t donate a shirt. Once again it would seem that Celtic are

He said: “We are assisting Comic Relief. We have been helping BBC
Scotland and this Friday we are raising money on our website for them.
“The club is disappointed by the BBC’s broadcast from London,
considering how helpful we have been.”
